When It Rains, It Pours!

It’s fair to say this season has thrown just about everything at us. From unexpected setbacks to moments of promise cut short, it’s definitely been a roller coaster. Round 4 was no exception.

We came into the weekend hoping to turn things around, but the run of bad luck continued to follow us.

Race 1 we started P12 and were looking to move forward, but a couple of early mistakes on my part cost us track position. I dropped back to P20 and with two safety car periods breaking up the rhythm of the race, there wasn’t much time to claw back positions. We managed to recover to P15 by the flag, not ideal, but we kept it clean and banked some points.

Race 2 felt like another shot at redemption. We started P15 and settled into P14 early on, but as our luck would have it, we got pushed off on the first lap and dropped right back to P31. We put our head down and started working our way forward, climbing back to P21 before getting caught up in an inevitable pile-up. There was nothing I could do, it was just one of those racing incidents where you’re in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Race 3 we started from P30, I made up a few spots early before a mechanical issue suddenly shut the car down mid-race. I lost half a lap getting it going again, but once we were back on track, I gave it everything to catch the field and finished P25. Not the result we wanted, but I’m proud of the effort to fight through and finish strong.

This round felt like a continuation of the tough luck that’s followed us all year. It hasn’t been for lack of effort, every time we hit the track, we’re giving it everything. That being said, there’s still one more round to go and we’re not backing down. We’ve got a few weeks to reset, regroup, and come out swinging at The Bend for the final round of the year. We know the pace is there. Now it’s about putting a clean weekend together and finishing the season strong.
